This work is based on several photos I took of Black Caviar in her last race, the prestigious T.J. Smith Stakes 1200m at Royal Randwick Racecourse in April 2013. This was to be her last race winning 25 out of 25 races.
Because she raced predominantly in Victoria and I presented the work as part of the 2013 Invitational Equine Portrait selection for the Victorian Racing Club, I flipped the image to have her running counter-clockwise as they like to do there.
